Ban bottled water… for ever!

At taraweeh this Ramdan, I couldn’t help but notice the rows upon rows of not only praying Muslims but also bottled water.  As it’s Ramadan, everyone is doing their best to keep hydrated but why bottled water?

Bottled water is one of the biggest cons of this century and not only does it divert money away from better water infrastructure, it poisons supplies due to the production of plastic bottles which end up in toxic landfills. Also,  research has found that bottled water isn’t always safer than tap water and definately isn’t tastier.

The lovely people from the Story of Stuff have a great animated video which reminds us why bottled water is so bad- enjoy and spread the message!

This video seems right on. You should check out Hydros Bottle. It has a built in filter which decreases the harmful environmental impact of bottled water. Also, some profit from each bottle goes toward getting water to villages that need it.

Thanks for your comment Rianne and the podcast you suggest is really great. I don’t know if its just me but I always learn so much better through animation and this one was useful in terms of the carbon footprint of a bottle of water.

Let those using bottled water watch this film: , and then reflect on NUMEROUS references in the Quran about not wasting… My 2p. In peace, Rianne
